Video DescriptionAbout Chris Anthony

Sometimes what we say is not what a customer hears and basic terminology may be unfamiliar. Great customer communication is much more than catchphrases and a friendly smile (although that smile sure helps!) Learn some new communication tips for making your customers understand that their beloved pet can be both their sweet baby and a handful while on the grooming table without offending them. We’ll talk about how to distill some of your years of grooming expertise into laymen’s terms for your customers.

Chris Anthony

Company: Have Shears Will Travel, Owner

Chris Anthony, weary from her travails in retail management and office work, found her calling when she discovered pet grooming. Her near 20-year journey in this career has led her through many opportunities, experiences, and life lessons; including grooming and managing in both small and corporate salons, and starting her own successful house call grooming business in New Jersey. Supplementing those life lessons by educating herself on the varying aspects of her career she always sought out innovations in pet care, education, grooming techniques, tools, and products. Now her passion for grooming and education has added more in-depth knowledge on scissors, scissoring techniques, ergonomics, and self-care to help preserve her own health and longevity in her chosen profession. She is the owner/groomer at Have Shears Will Travel, customer service/sales VP at Evolution Shears. Chris is also honored to have co-founded the New Jersey Professional Pet Groomers Alliance and serves as its current Chairwoman. Chris can be heard weekly on the Traveling Groomers Podcast, which has earned a Barkleigh Honors Award nomination.

I am an educator because I am passionate about the grooming industry and want to be a part of the support system both new and experienced groomers need to raise their levels of professionalism in the industry. I also work to educate clients and pet parents everywhere possible, I believe that an educated pet owner is best for not only the care of their pets but relationships with the pet care professionals in their life.
