FREE EXCERPT: A Twist of Color - 30 minutes
Gone are the days when a Poodle needs to look like a Poodle, a Bichon like a Bichon. Many clients are requesting wild, off-the-wall haircuts these days – and creative groomers and stylists are up for the challenge!
Instead of a putting this pet in a standard trim, the “Queen of Color” is true to form and changes it up a bit. It’s just not in her nature to leave a white Poodle looking plain and simple. She is way too creative for that! In this L2GD lesson, Dawn shows you how to create a geometric weave pattern on a dog.
First she demonstrates how to free hand carve the coat with a #40 blade. Next, she lightly marks the coat to set her geometric pattern. Once she is satisfied with its placement, she shows you how to edge in the outline. Then she brings the design to life by adding temporary color with blow pens.
This design is easily adaptable in your salon. It’s Quick. It’s easy. And it’s fun! If you have clients who like to do something a little different with their pet’s coat, this is a great option. This is a simple trim that will turn heads and get loads of attention for the pooch!
